Policy note
Broken glass in a listed building
Glass is a short section of the conditions and a busy one, and most of it turns on what the glass was part of.
What follows is the ordinary position at Noorderdijk. The policy schedule and the conditions document together are what a claim is assessed against, and where this note and those documents differ, those documents are the ones that count.
In a listed building a repair has to match what was there, which takes longer and costs more than a like for like fix. The schedule says whether that difference is included.

What the policy covers here
- Window and door glass that is part of the building.
- The frame, where the frame was damaged along with the glass.
- Boarding up until the glass can be replaced.
- Glass in a conservatory or a porch that is fixed to the building.
03
What it does not cover here
- Glass that was cracked before the policy started.
- Scratches, chips and marks that do not go through the glass.
- Greenhouse and cold frame glass, which the schedule names separately.
Whether a pane belongs to the building or to the contents settles most glass claims, and the schedule answers it before anything breaks.
