Policy note
Theft and break ins in a converted barn
Theft is the one situation where the paperwork done long beforehand decides how quickly everything after it goes.
A converted barn is part old structure and part new work, and the schedule says which parts of it the policy treats as the building.
What follows is the ordinary position at Noorderdijk. The policy schedule and the conditions document together are what a claim is assessed against, and where this note and those documents differ, those documents are the ones that count.

What the policy covers here
- Things taken from the home after somebody forced a door, a window or a lock.
- The damage the forcing did, the door and the frame included.
- Replacing locks and keys after keys were taken.
- Things taken from a locked outbuilding, up to the amount the schedule names for it.
03
What it does not cover here
- Things that went missing with no sign of a break in.
- Theft by somebody living in the home.
- Things left in an unlocked shed, garage or porch.
A receipt, a photograph and a serial number turn a report about a missing thing into a report about a specific thing. Nothing else does that job as well.
