Travel insurance

Cover for the things that go wrong on a trip: care you need while you are away, luggage that does not arrive, and a journey home that has to be brought forward.

Premium

From € 3,15 a month

What a policy actually costs depends on where you travel, how often, and who is on the policy. A quotation gives the figure for your own situation.

01

What the policy covers

The policy runs for every trip you make in the year, from the moment you leave the address on your schedule until the moment you are back at it.

  • Care you need while you are abroad, and the transport that goes with it.
  • Luggage that is lost, stolen or damaged on the way.
  • A journey home brought forward because of a death or a serious illness in the family.
  • Extra nights and extra travel when the return journey is delayed beyond your control.
  • Help reaching a doctor, a hospital or a replacement travel document.
02

What the policy does not cover

  • A trip that was already booked before the policy started.
  • Winter sports, climbing and diving, unless they are added to the policy.
  • Treatment you travelled in order to receive.
  • Valuables left in a parked car, or left unattended in a public place.
  • A trip to a country the Dutch government advises against travelling to.

The conditions document names every situation the policy leaves out, and it is the document a claim is assessed against.

03

The conditions in plain words

Luggage is settled per item up to the amount named in the conditions, and a laptop, a camera or a phone counts as one item each.

Anything stolen has to be reported to the local police, and the report goes in with the claim.

Care that can wait until you are home is not care you needed on the trip, and the conditions treat it that way.

Questions about travel insurance

How do I report something that happened on a trip?

Report it as soon as you can, and keep every receipt and every report you were given while you were away.

A claim reference reaches you by email once the report is registered. It is two letters, the year and five digits, and it goes at the top of anything you send afterwards.

Who is insured on the policy?

The people named on the schedule, and children living at the same address while they travel with one of them.

Is a cancelled trip insured?

Not on this policy. Cancellation is a separate product, because it starts working the day a trip is booked rather than the day it begins.
