Policy note
Storm damage in a holiday chalet
Storm damage is read against what the wind actually did that day, and the conditions set out the kind of damage a storm is expected to cause.
What follows is the ordinary position at Noorderdijk. The policy schedule and the conditions document together are what a claim is assessed against, and where this note and those documents differ, those documents are the ones that count.
A holiday chalet stands empty for most of the year, and the conditions ask what was done while it did: the water off, the shutters closed, somebody looking in.

What the policy covers here
- Damage to the roof, the gutters and the chimney caused by wind.
- Rain that entered through an opening the storm itself made.
- Temporary work to keep the building watertight until a proper repair.
03
What it does not cover here
- Tiles that were already loose before the wind found them.
- Fences, aerials and garden furniture, which have sections of their own.
- Wind below the strength the conditions name.
