Locking up a bicycle kept in the hall

Locking up a bicycle kept in the hall properly is a smaller job than replacing it.

Photograph the frame number under the bottom bracket, and the whole bicycle in a second picture. The pair identifies it years later.

Worth doing

  • Keep the purchase receipt with the photographs, not in a different drawer.
  • Use a lock indoors as well, and note what kind it is.
  • Take the photographs again after a repair that changes how it looks.
